  • 1 C. white sugar
  • 3/4 C. butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar and butter in bowl. Add egg. Beat well. In separate bowl, mix salt, flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Combine dry ingredients slowly into the wet mixture. Mix until dough is formed. Roll dough out and then cut with small star cookie cutters. Place stars on cookie sheet. Bake for 5 to 6 minutes.
