Steak with Hoisin Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 Tbs. vegetable oil
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 C. sliced mushrooms
- 1 Tbs. minced fresh ginger root
- Salt and pepper
- 1 garlic clove, halved
- 2 8 oz. beef loin strip steaks, cut 1-inch thick
- 1/4 C. hoisin sauce
- 1 Tbs. chili sauce with garlic
- 1 Tbs. soy sauce
- 1/4 C. beef broth
Directions
Heat oil in large heavy skillet. Add red onion, mushrooms and ginger root. Sauté 3 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove and set aside. Wipe skillet to remove any food particles. Rub garlic halves over steaks. Season steaks with salt and pepper.
Heat skillet. Add steaks and brown on high 2 minutes per side. Remove meat. Reduce heat to medium. Add hoisin sauce, chili sauce, soy sauce and broth. Scrape up any browned bits. Return steaks and vegetables to skillet. Cook 2 minutes per side over medium heat, or to desired doneness.
