This strawberry bread pudding is a nice change from the usual bread puddings. The addition of mixed berries sprinkled on the top after baking makes this a treat for all ages!

  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 C. whole milk, hot
  • 6 slices dense bread (we like Challah or brioche for ours)
  • 1 C. strawberry jam (or frozen thawed strawberries, fresh will not work as we need the juice)
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • mixed berries, for topping

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Soak the cubes of dense bread in the hot whole milk. 

Mix the yolks with the sugar until they form a cream. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites into stiff peaks. Fold gently into the bread and milk with the remaining ingredients (minux the mixed berries for topping. 

Bake in a greased 8x12 baking dish for 45 minutes or until hot throughout. Serve warm and sprinkle the mixed berries on top, if desired.
