This breakfast casserole would be great for a Sunday morning meal with the family. It's sweet, flavorful and full of fresh strawberries!

  • 12 slices white bread; cubed
  • 2 8 oz. packages of cream cheese
  • 2 C. fresh strawberries
  • 1 1/2 C. half-and-half
  • 10 eggs
  • 1/3 C. maple syrup
  • Powered sugar
  • Sauce:
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 C. water
  • 1 1/2 Tbs. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 C. strawberries sliced

In a greased baking dish place a layer of cubed bread. Spread cream cheese over bread. Sprinkle a layer of fresh strawberries followed by another layer of bread cubes.

In a blender, pour half-and-half and blend with eggs. Add maple syrup and blend until smooth. Pour mixture over baking dish. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake for 30 minutes while covered with aluminum foil at 350 degrees. Remove foil and bake until French toast is plump and golden brown (30 more minutes).

Stir sauce ingredients together and cook over medium heat until thickened. Mix strawberries in the sauce and drizzle on top of French toast.
