  • 8 oz. extra-lean ground sirloin
  • 1 Tbs. minced red onion
  • 1 tsp. minced fresh basil
  • 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • dash chili powder
  • 1/2 oz. part-skim mozzarella or reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 2 chunks

Light a charcoal or gas grill or preheat broiler.

In a small bowl, gently mix all ingredients except mozzarella cheese. Divide mixture in half. Form each half around a piece of cheese and shape into thick patties.

Grill or broil hamburgers, 4 inches from heat source, to desired doneness, about 7 minutes per side for medium-rare, turning once.
