A really tasty recipe that I found on the back of a sugar bag. We tried it out and absolutely loved it. The layers of brown sugar in this cake remind me of a coffee cake and goes great with your coffee in the mornings.

  • Cake:
  • 3 1/2 C. Flour
  • 4 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 2 C. Sugar
  • 1 C. Butter
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 C. Milk
  • 2 tsp. Vanilla
  • Crumbs:
  • 1 C. Brown Sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. Flour
  • 4 Tbsp. Butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1 C. Chopped Nuts (Optional)

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in butter until mixture is fine. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, milk, and vanilla. Add half of the liquid to the dry ingredients and beat until smooth.Add remaining liquid and beat until smooth. Pour half the batter into a 9x13 inch pan. in another bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, melted butter, chopped nuts, and cinnamon and mix into a "crumb" mixture. Sprinkle half the crumbs on top of the batter in the pan. Pour the rest of the batter into the cake pan and sprinkle the rest of the crumbs on top. Bake at 350 F for 45-55 minutes.
