According to many our readers, this is the perfect sugar cookie recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 C. butter
  • 1 egg
  • 3 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Directions

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Sift flour, soda, & nutmeg together. Add to sugar mixture. Roll out dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut with cookie cutters & decorate with colored sugar. Bake 8-10 minutes until golden at 350 degrees.
