Sugar Plum Cookies

Let these sugar plum cookies dance in your mouth. They are really soft and delicious. A very unique Christmas cookie.

Ingredients

1 C. butter, softened
1 1/2 C. sugar
1/2 C. confectioner's sugar
1 C. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg
5 C. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. canned plums, finely chopped and drained

Directions

Cream butter and sugar. Add confectioner's sugar and vegetable oil; mix well. Add vanilla extract and egg; mix well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt. Add to first mixture; blend well. Fold in plums. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. Grease fingertips, roll dough into walnut size balls. Dip into colored sugar and place on cookie sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Press down slightly with the bottom of a sugared glass. Bake for 12 minutes. Cool on cookie sheets for 5 minutes. Then completely on a wire rack.
