Sweet and Salty Puffs

This is a recipe that one of the moms from the daycare gave me. She made it for the staff and they all loved it. It's so easy to make - they taste kind of like 'Crunch and Munch' but better.

  • 3 bags puffed corn
  • 2 C. packed brown sugar
  • 2 sticks butter (not margarine)
  • 1/2 C. light Karo syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add brown sugar, Karo syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil. Stir constantly for five minutes. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and baking soda. Mix well. Pour over puffed corn and stir well. Bake at 250 degrees for one hour. Stir every 10 minutes. Let cool and serve.
