  • 1 T. vegetable oil
  • 1 T. butter
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • ½ C. flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 5 lb. beef short ribs
  • Pasta sauce
  • 2 T. soy sauce
  • ½ C.brown sugar
  • 2 T. Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Heat oil and butter in a large skillet and sauté onions until soft and translucent. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper. Coat ribs evenly with flour mix and add to skillet, searing all sides. In a medium saucepan, combine pasta sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire, and brown sugar. Simmer for 3-5 minutes. Place ribs with sautéed mix in a roasting pan. Pour sauce over ribs and cover pan with aluminum foil. Cook for 4-4 ½ hours, until meat is tender.
