  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1/2 of a large red onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of minced garlic
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can of diced tomatoes with green chili peppers
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 dash of chili powder
  • 1 dash of cumin
  • 1 dash of ground cinnamon
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans
  • 1/3 of a cup of cola

First, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
After the oil is heated, then stir in the onion and cook it for 2 minutes. Then stir in the garlic and cook this set until the onion is soft and translucent.
Then stir in the tomatoes and cilantro. Season this mixture with cayenne pepper, chili powder, cumin, and cinnamon. Cook the mixture for 10 minutes.
Then stir in the beans and the cola. Bring everything to a simmer. Then, reduce the heat to low and cover the beans. Simmer the beans for 1 hour or longer.
Finally, serve the beans with rice.
