  • 8 oz boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Orange sauce
  • Canola oil for deep-frying
  • Salt and sugar, to taste
  • White sesame, for garnishing
  • For frying batter:
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup water, ice cold
  • 1/2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • Dash of salt

In a large bowl, whisk eggs and mix in the rest of the Frying Batter ingredients until batter is smooth. Drop in the chicken cubes and set aside.

In a deep Dutch oven, skillet or pot, heat about two-inches of canola oil. Drop the chicken into the oil and flip it occasionally until it reaches a golden color. Take chicken pieces out for about two to three minutes, then place back in oil for an additional minute for coating to harden. Remove again and drain on paper towel.

After chicken is removed, pour in orange sauce in Dutch oven, skillet or pot and bring to a light simmer. Add deep-fried chicken and stir until sauce is all absorbed. Serve with white rice is desired and garnish with white sesame.
