Ingredients

  • 1 C. butter, softened
  • 2 C. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 C. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 (21-oz.) cans cherry pie filling
  • Glaze:
  • 1 C. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 Tbs. milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, mix butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each addition and then include extracts. Mix flour and salt in a bowl while slowly adding creamed mixture. Spread 3 C. batter in greased 15-by-10-by-1-inch baking pan. Spread with pie filling. Drop remaining batter by teaspoons over filling. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over pan. Cut into dessert bars.
