Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 3/4 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt
  • 1 red onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup fromage blanc or high quality ricotta
  • 2 slices of ham chopped into small pieces.
  • 1 tablespoon of basil

Directions

For the dough: Combine yeast, sugar, and lukewarm water to activate yeast. Stir until mixture becomes foamy, this should take about 10 minutes. Pour flour into mixing bowl and add olive oil, salt, and activated yeast. Stir until dough is in a ball. Flour surface and knead the dough. Place dough in warm space for an hour to rise. Preheat oven to 400°F.

In a pan, add onions with a drop of olive oil and salt. Stir and flip until onions are soft and caramelized. When dough Is ready, set in lightly floured surface and roll into an oval. Place dough in oven for 4 minutes. Then layer the oil and fromage blanc across dough. The sprinkle onions and ham over top. Put back into oven for 6-8 minutes, sprinkle with basil, and slice!
