Tater Tot Casserole

Sure to be a hit with the kids, this casserole is basically a whole meal in one dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 bag tater tots
  • 1 bag shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brown and season ground beef. In 9 x 13 casserole dish, layer tater tots, then ground beef, and spread the soups over ground beef. Top with mozzarella cheese. Bake at 425 for at least one half hour or until hot all the way through. Let sit 5 minutes before serving

Variations: Use ground turkey instead of ground beef and you can use different cream soups or cheddar cheese soup.

  • My mother-in-law likes to add packaged sausage into this dish and I added green chile. Delish.

  • This was GREAT! I added chopped onions and green pepper to the meat mixture. And I only added one can of cream of mushroom along with a cup of milk. The kids loved it!

  • This is gr8 for a cool evening. It is especially good for kids. I throw a small package of vegetables (greenbeans) in - on top of the ground beef - and they still go crazy for it! I serve it with applesauce and they have all 5 foodgroups! Ta da!

  • I have been making this dish for abt 20 yrs. I cook onions & bellpeppers w/the meat & add the soup to the meat mixture. Put in greased casserole, top with cheese & then the tater tots. Usually don't have any leftovers.

  • This seems to be a good meal. But I was left feeling uncertain about the directions. Whether or not the tater tots had to be crumbled or cooked, whether the soup was condensed or mixed, and I just want to add that it might be a good idea to add the cheese after taking out of the oven.
