The BEST Homemade Meatloaf
Serving Size / Yield
- 1 ½ pounds of lean ground beef
- 1 onion chopped into small pieces
- 1 cup of Italian style bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons of dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of pepper
- 1/3 cup of ketchup
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, milk, onion, and bread crumbs. Mix with your hands until all of the ingredients are fully incorporated. Push the mixture into a lightly greased loaf pan. To promote even cooking, be sure that all sides of the meatloaf are even.
In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup. Stir until fully incorporated. Pour over the meatloaf and spread so it covers the entire loaf.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and cook for 1 hour. To be sure that the meatloaf is fully cooked, cut the meatloaf in half and be sure that the meat is no longer pink.
If you have leftovers, be sure to keep them covered and refrigerated. The meatloaf should keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
