  • 2 C. butter
  • 1 C. granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • For topping:
  • ¼ C. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a large bowl, cream butter until smooth, then add sugar and mix in egg and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Add flour ingredients together with butter mixture until thick.
Roll dough into small balls, about 1-2 tablespoon balls. Roll each dough ball into a mixture of the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Spread cookies on lined baking sheets and bake for about 12 minutes.
