Thumbprint cookies are such a classic dessert during the winter months. In this quick and easy recipe, we filled the cookies with a seasonal cranberry jam.

  • 2 1/2 C. flour
  • 1 C. butter at room temperature
  • 1 C. shortening
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 C. powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 jar cranberry jam
  • White Chocolate Glaze:
  • 1/2 C. white chocolate baking chips
  • 2 Tbs. margarine
  • 2 Tbs. corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. hot water

Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix throughly. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Add spoonful of dough on cookie sheets. Press thumb in middle of each cookie and fill with jam. Place on baking sheets. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden on edges. To prepare glaze, heat white chocolate chips, butter and corn syrup over low heat, stirring frequently, until chocolate chips are melted. Cool for about 10 minutes. Stir in hot water, 1 tsp. at a time, until thick. Drizzle white chocolate glaze on cookies.
