  • 6 granny smith apples
  • 6 craft sticks
  • 1 C. white sugar
  • 2/3 C. dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 C. water
  • 2 T. dark corn syrup
  • 2 T. heavy cream
  • 2 T. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 C. slivered almonds

Butter a sheet of wax paper and set aside on your countertop. In a large skillet, add almonds. Stirring frequently, cook until browned and fragrant. Transfer toasted almonds to a bowl and set aside. In a medium saucepan, combine sugars, water, corn syrup, cream, and butter. Stir constantly until boiling. Let boil for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt. Carefully dip each apple in the caramel and coat with toasted almonds. Transfer apples to the prepared wax paper and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
