Ingredients
- 1 lb. extra firm tofu, drained and crumbled
- 3 Tbs. soy sauce (Nama Shoyu is the best)
- 3/4 C. seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 3/4 C. potato, boiled, and coarsely mashed
- 1/4 C. low fat parmesan cheese
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 sm. onion, finely chopped
- 1 Tbs. parsley flakes
- 1 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. sea salt or to taste
- canola or olive oil
Directions
Combine tofu, soy sauce, and bread crumbs. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Divide into six equal portions then form into burger patties. This mixture is easy to handle.
Pre-heat small amount of oil. Brown patties in hot oil for 5 minutes on each side. Browns nicely. Steams and broils well also. Spray with olive oil before broiling. Pre-cook before grilling. Serve on whole grain buns with a selection of condiments and garnishes: lettuce, tomato, purple onion, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, mayo,ketsup,mustard, etc.
