Tomato Basil Soup

Tomato Basil Soup

I have gotten so many compliments for my soup. I hope you will try this and I know you will like it.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. Chicken Backs and Necks
  • 8 C. of water
  • 1 jar of Classico Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce
  • Frozen Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots and Green Beans
  • 1/2 lb. of cooked Lean Ground Beef in small pieces
  • 1 medium size chopped onion
  • 1 cup of chopped celery
  • 1 Tbs. of crushed garlic
  • 1 tsp. Season All
  • 1 tsp of ground pepper
  • 2 tsp of basil
  • 2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 envelope of Taco Bell Seasoning Mix

Directions

Cook chicken pieces in water until cooked through and then discard chicken for the broth. Add jar of tomato basil pasta sauce. Add all other ingredients. Let it cook on medium heat and then low heat for a few hours. You can also add mushrooms to the soup if you like them.

  • This soup was excellent. I didn't have the frozen veggie mix. So I used 2 cups french style frozen green beans, 10 oz frozen broccoli florets and 3 carrots sliced. Also I used 8 cups chicken stock; instead of chicken necks and backs.
