Instead of serving tea and crumpets, surprise your friends with some English toffee! This toffee will melt in your mouth. Sprinkle some additional nuts if you’re craving more than almonds.

  • 1 C butter
  • 1 1/4 C white sugar
  • 2 Tbs. water
  • 1/4 C almonds
  • 1 C chocolate chips
  • Assorted nuts, for topping

Spray a baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Gradually add in sugar and water. Bring to a boil and add almonds. Cook until nuts are toasted and the sugar reaches a golden color.

Pour the mixture into the baking pan. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top and additional almonds or other nuts. Let stand for a minute, then spread the chocolate over the top.

Place baking pan into refrigerator and chill until set. Break into pieces when finished.
