Summer is full of family picnics and friendly get togethers. Hot dogs and hamburgers make up the general food fair but everything needs a side dish to accompany it. Traditional macaroni salad is a great addition to any warm weather festival. This mayonnaise based salad is generally loved by all when it is on the table.

  • 2 cups dry elbow macaroni, cooked, drained and rinsed
  • 1/3 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup minced red onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

In a large bowl combine the first three ingredients. In a small bowl combine the mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, vinegar, and sour cream. Once combined pour the dressing over the salad to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately. Salad can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to three days.
