My dear auntie Trudy is famous for her potato salad, and it was right of passage to be taught how to make it. Though she has passed, I can continue her legacy by passing it on to you.

  • 1 1/2 lbs. potatoes
  • 1 /2 C. mayonnaise
  • 3 Tbs. C. buttermilk
  • 1 Tbs. Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbs. whole-grain mustard
  • 1/4 C. chopped fresh dill
  • 1/4 C. chopped celery
  • 1/4 C. chopped red onion
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

1) Dash some salt in a pot of water with potatoes and bring to a boil, until tender. Drain, pat dry, and allow to steam while preparing the other ingredients.
2) Whisk mayonnaise, mustards, and dill, and about a teaspoon of salt and pepper.
3) Once the potatoes have cooled, cube and place in a large (serving) bowl. Pour about half of the dressing over them and toss to moisten the potatoes. Now add the celery and onion, along with a bit more salt and pepper. Add the rest of the dressing and toss well. Refrigerate and serve.
