Turtle Sundae Dessert

German chocolate cake is topped with caramels and pecans for the ultimate indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (14oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 1/2 C. evaporated milk
  • 6 Tbs. butter
  • 1 C. chopped pecans
  • 1 C. (6oz) semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Mix cake according to pkg. directions. Set aside half of the batter, pour remaining batter into a greased and floured baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes. Meanwhile in a saucepan over low heat, melt the caramels, milk, and butter. Remove from heat and add nuts. Pour over cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Pour remaining batter over top. Bake 20-25 minutes more or until cake springs back when touched. Cool. Cut into squares.

  • My best guess about the pan size is the 11x13 pan. That is the only way I can see to add the second half of the batter and caramel mixture to the first half. Any other ideas?
