  • 1 lb. spicy Italian sausage
  • 4-6 russet potatoes, bite sized cubes
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 1/4 C. bacon pieces
  • 2 Tbs. garlic, minced
  • 32 oz. chicken broth
  • 1/2 bunch kale, de-stem and torn into bite sized pieces
  • 1 C. heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tbs. flour

In a skillet, brown the sausage links. Cut the links in half lengthwise, then cut slices. Put the sausage, chicken broth, garlic potatoes, and onion in a crockpot. Add just enough water to cover the vegetables and meat. Cook on high for 3 to 4 hours until potatoes are soft.

30 minutes before serving, mix the flour into the cream, whisking to remove lumps. Add the cream and kale to the crockpot and stir. Cook on high for 30 minutes, or until the broth thickens slightly. Season with salt, pepper, and cayenne to taste.
