  • 1 fennel bulb, cut into 1-inch wide strips
  • 2 lg. carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch wide strips
  • 1 celery heart, cut into 6 pieces
  • 1 med. endive head, separated into leaves
  • 1 lg. red bell pepper, cut lengthwise into 1-inch strips
  • 4 Tbs. butter
  • 1 C. olive oil
  • 6 flat anchovy fillets
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 5-oz. pkg. bread sticks

Prepare vegetables in any assortment of raw or steamed for dipping. In a stainless steel dish, melt butter with olive oil. Add anchovies and cook, stirring, 2-3 minutes, or until anchovies dissolve. Reduce heat to low and add garlic and black pepper. Cook 1 minute. Serve warm with veggies and bread sticks for dipping.
