This velvet vanilla custard is a basic custard recipe that’s far from basic. It doesn’t take long to make, but it’s great.

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 C. milk
  • 2 T. cornstarch
  • 1/3 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Beat the eggs in a bowl. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, cornstarch, sugar and vanilla. Remove from heat once it simmers. 2 T. at a time, add the heated mixture into the eggs. Pour mixture into the same saucepan; heat for 5 minutes or until thick. Make sure it doesn’t burn by stirring progressively. Don’t let the mixture boil. Scoop into 2-4 cups. Stop with cinnamon if desired. Enjoy!
