I experimented with this recipe when a neighbor told us to help ourselves to his apple tree. Having never made applesauce before, I tried this!! I hope you all love it as much as we do. Hard to go back to store-bought.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart apples, peeled, cored and cut in chunks
  • Sugar
  • Cinnamon

Directions

Just cover apples with water in pan. Simmer until apples are tender. Drain water. Use a smasher to smash the cooked apples until desired consistency (chunky or smooth). Add sugar and cinnamon to desired taste. Place in freezer bags. Freezes quite well. Thaw in refrigerator before serving.
