Whipped Cream Frosting

I use this recipe a lot as it is not real sweet. It is especially good on mayonnaise cake. This recipe will frost a two layer cake. Unless you like a lot of frosting, it can be halved for a 9x13x2-inch cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 C. milk
  • 2 Tbs. flour
  • 1/2 C. shortening
  • 1/2 C. margarine or butter
  • 1 C. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Put milk and flour in small saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat and cool. Beat shortening, butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add paste and vanilla and beat until consistency of whipped cream.
