Wild Rice-Pecan Burgers

These delicious burgers are served in sandwich buns with cranberry sauce. Try steamed broccoli on the side.

20 min preparation + 50 min cooking


  • 2/3 C. uncooked wild rice
  • 1 1/2 C. water
  • 1 C. soft bread crumbs (about 1 1/2 slices bread)
  • 1/3 C. chopped pecans
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 2.5-oz. jar sliced mushrooms, drained, finely chopped
  • 1 2-oz. jar diced pimientos, drained
  • 2 Tbs. vegetable oil

Cook wild rice in water according to package directions. In medium bowl, mix rice and remaining ingredients except oil. In 10-inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Scoop wild rice mixture by 1/3 cupfuls into skillet. Flatten to 1/2 inch. Cook about 3 minutes on each side or until light  brown. Remove patties from skillet; cover and keep warm while cooking remaining burgers.
