Ingredients

  • 8 C. applesauce
  • 4 C. sugar
  • 4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. allspice
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. cloves

Directions

Stir all ingredients together well in a large bowl. Transfer to a crockpot and cook, UNCOVERED, on high for 6 to 7 hours. It isn't necessary to stir it. Cool and place into containers. Keep refrigerated or may be frozen

  • Tried this twice. First time amount was too much for my 6 qt. crockpot. Didn't even cook in 14 hours. (Yes, it was turned on - low.) Second time tried half the amount; volume didn't decrease as intended, but burned around edges. Going back to the easy way - in the jelly kettle. Done in only 45 - 60 minutes.

  • This was great. Wonderful flavor, however I did substitute 2 cups of the sugar with Splenda. It did not change texture and was very good.
