Wonderful Cubed Steak with Gravy

(5 votes) 3 5

This is a very simple cube steak recipe even for the novice cook. The steak is fork tender and the ingredients make their own gravy. Delicious over rice or mashed potatoes. The flavor of the meat and gravy is wonderful. Even better reheated the next day if there are any leftovers!

Sprinkle seasonings on both sides of steak real well. Dredge each piece of steak with flour and brown on both sides in hot oil. Place the first layer of steak in a fairly large casserole dish, cover with some of the onion slices. Repeat until all steak and onions are used. Sprinkle a couple tablespoons of extra flour over everything and add enough water to barely cover the meat and onions. Cover and bake in a 350-degree oven for about 2 hours. Serve gravy over cooked rice or mashed potatoes. Serve with yellow or green veggies.
