My sister came up with this recipe for Thanksgiving last year and it was a great success! The family has gotten tired of the candied yams or mashed sweet potatoes for the holidays and this was a terrific new version!

Peel, core and slice apples. Puree yams with 6 Tbs. margarine, brown sugar and dark brown syrup. Add cinnamon. Spread 1/2 yam mixture in baking dish. Arrange 1/2 of the apples over the yams. Repeat layering and brush top layer of apples with remaining margarine. Bake uncovered in a 350-degree oven until heated through about 35 minutes.
