This pita bread is seasoned in za’atar which is a Middle Eastern spice mixture. Pita bread is great with hummus, but this seasoning makes the pita enough on its own!

  • 12 ounces pita bread
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon minced thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon ground sumac

To begin, preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Cut each pita bread into 6 wedges. In a large mixing bowl, coat the pita wedges in olive oil. Add the seeds, oregano, sumac, thyme, and salt and pepper to the bowl. Toss to season the pita. Arrange the pita wedges on a baking sheet and bake for 5-8 minutes. Allow the pita to cool.
