Cooking with Beer: 12 Tasty Recipes

During Oktoberfest, it’s all about the beer! Sipping a cold, frothy pint is the perfect way to celebrate this German holiday. But why just drink your beer when you can eat it, too? This Oktoberfest, try cooking with beer to make one of these unforgettable recipes.

Beer Butt Chicken: This original flavoring technique involves mixing the seasonings in a beer can and sticking it into the chicken's cavity.

Beer Battered Onion Rings: This beer battered onion ring recipe comes from Sandra Lee, a Food Network star.

Beer and Molasses Barbecue Sauce: This is a tangy sauce for grilled chicken or spareribs. You can build up a shiny glaze by brushing the sauce over the meat, beginning about 15 minutes from the end of cooking time.

Beer Bread: This bread is always a big hit. It tastes like homemade yeast bread but it doesn't require as much work.

Beer Cheese Spread: Seemingly ideal for tailgating at Packers games in Wisconsin, but no doubt a popular football treat on any turf.

Bratwurst in Beer with Sauerkraut Relish: Flavorful, marinated brats are grilled and served on rolls or buns with homemade sauerkraut relish.

Beer-Battered Fried Avocado Wedges with Salsa: This indulgent finger food is sure to be a crowd-pleaser!

Beer and Cheese Soup: To make this soup a little lighter, use a low-fat sour cream and reduced-fat Cheddar cheese instead of the regular versions.

: This is kind of like meatballs but with beer doused all over them.

Buffalo Beer Chili
: Buffalo meat is an excellent alternative to beef because it is much leaner and has less fat. If you can't find buffalo meat, you can use ground turkey or chicken as well.

Short Ribs Baked in Beer
: This is one of my favorite ways to prepare short ribs. The beer makes them very tender and delicious.

Beer Cake: Don't let the beer deter you, this is a fabulous cake recipe that will be a success!
