Heating Up with Swiss or Cheddar Cheese Fondue

Heating Up with Swiss or Cheddar Cheese Fondue

Fondue is not only delicious, it's a lot of fun! Here are some of Recipe4Living's recipes and cooking tips for superior Swiss or cheddar cheese fondue!

Cheese Fondue - This is a perfect appetizer to make for the beginning of a romantic meal for two.

Sharp Cheddar Cheese Fondue - A fondue made with a popular cheese is the perfect choice for a party.

Easy Cheese Fondue - Rich, cheesy, gooey and yummy. Grab a stick and dig in!

Gouda Cheese Fondue - Traditional fondues feature nutty-tasting Gruyere or Emmenthaler. But you can substitute any cheese or blend of cheeses you like, as long as they melt well. My recipe here includes aged Gouda.

American Cheese Fondue - This dip has a lot of chili flavor for creamy good dipping!

One of the most well known dishes of the Swiss fondue tradition, cheese fondue is a communal cheese sauce made for dipping bites of bread cubes, fruit, and other dippables. Traditionally made from Swiss cheeses or gruyere, the cheese fondue has since taken many forms from cheddar cheese fondue to even gouda (as you'll see in Wolfgang Puck's Gouda Cheese Fondue recipe above).

1. Adding alcohol to a cheese fondue prevents the cheese from curdling when heated up.

2. The quality of your cheese fondue depends solely on the quality of your cheese.

3. Save leftover fondue and use it as a topping for potatoes, pastas, etc.
