On a night you don't want to spend fussing in the kitchen, consider this simple baked ziti dish. With foods you already have in the pantry, this quick pasta dish will taste like it's made from scratch but will take a fraction of the time!

  • 1 lb ziti
  • 2 cans pizza sauce
  • 2 cans sliced mushrooms
  • 1½ C. of grated mozzarella cheese
  • 3 Tbs. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1½ C. of chopped red bell pepper
  • 1½ C. chopped onion
  • 1Tbs. minced garlic
  • 2 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbs. olive oil

Cook the ziti (pasta) as per the directions given in the packaging to al dente.
Take a large saucepan and heat the olive oil over medium. Add in the onions and chopped bell pepper until they soften.
Add in the drained mushroom slices, garlic and red pepper flakes. Stir.
Add the pizza sauce and stir. Add the ziti to the sauce.
In a separate bowl, mix the mozzarella and parmesan cheese together and add half of it to the bottom of the baking dish. Pour in the ziti mixture on top of the bed of mixed cheese and then add the remaining half of the cheese mixture on top. Bake for thirty minutes and serve hot.
