  • 2 cups of jasmine rice
  • 4 cups of water
  • 3 cups of broccoli florets
  • 1 pound of sirloin beef, trimmed and sliced
  • ¼ cup of soy sauce
  • ½ cup of beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons of corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Boil water in a pot and stir in rice and a pinch of salt. Let simmer covered for about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat but let steam for another 5 minutes.
While the rice is steaming, combine the cornstarch, garlic powder and salt in a bowl, and then toss the beef in it until the slices are evenly coated.
Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large pan and stir fry the beef with soy sauce for 5 minutes. Add broccoli and beef broth and simmer covered for 5 minutes, stirring as needed. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and then serve. Don’t forget to fluff the rice!
