This beef Bolognese inspired baked ziti is hearty, saucy and filled to the brim with cheese so kids will love it. A great meal to serve for a family dinner night with a side of garlic bread!

  • 1 package of ziti pasta, cooked and drained
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can of whole tomato sauce
  • 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup of parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

As the oven preheats to 350 degrees, cook the ziti pasta as described on package until al dente. Drain and set aside. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, onion, carrot, celery, garlic, salt and pepper over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Then, add the spaghetti sauce, basil, and oregano to the beef and simmer for 15 minutes. In a large baking pan, first add the ziti pasta, the beef and sauce mixture and then a layer of cheese. Continue until the pan is filled and then garnish with basil. Bake for 30 minutes, serve and enjoy!
