Bread Pudding

Try this tasty bread pudding on Christmas, or a winter potluck. It's delicious and requires ingredients that you probably already have on hand.

  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 C. milk, scalded
  • 4-5 slices bread, day old
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 C. raisins
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 C. sugar


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut bread into tiny cubes and soak with raisins in scalded milk. Cool to lukewarm. Beat egg yolks and sugar until creamy, add vanilla extract and cinnamon. Blend with milk mixture in deep bowl. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into buttered 8x12-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake in oven for 45 minutes.
