These delicious dessert bars have a layer of shortbread topped in homemade caramel and then topped in chocolate fudge. For so many layers of amazing flavor, the fudge bars only take 35 minutes to make!

  • 1 1/3 cup butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup condensed milk
  • 1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Mix the flour, granulated sugar, and 2/3 cup butter until the mixture is crumbly. Press the mixture into a square baking pan and bake for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, mix the remaining butter, the brown sugar, milk, and corn syrup in a large pan. Bring the pan to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and beat for 3 minutes. Pour this over the baked crust when it is ready. Microwave the chocolate in the microwave and stir until the chips are melted. When the caramel begins to firm on the crust, pour the chocolate layer on top and let the bars chill. Cut into squares.
