I find a little hot sauce to be a great addition to this cheesy goodness. The crunch of the bacon and panko plus the gooeyness of the cheese makes this simple dish simply to die for.

Preheat the oven at 350 F and grease a casserole dish with butter or oil. Set aside.

Boil the cavatappi with some added olive oil and salt.

Meanwhile, over medium heat, sauté the garlic and butter. Gradually add in the flour, pepper and milk. Mix until well blended. Simmer and stir for 2 minutes until it thickens.

Once it has thickened, add in the cheese and mix. When the pasta is ready, add it into the mixture and toss until it is well coated.

Transfer the contents into the prepared casserole dish. Pour the melted butter over the pasta and finally sprinkle on the cooked bacon and panko.

Let it bake for 20-25 minutes or until it begins to bubble. Remove add pepper and serve hot.
