Granola bars are a delicious healthy snack. But all the preservatives in the store-bought variety can bring down the health benefits. This recipe is fast and preservative free. Make a few different varieties by mixing in different fruit and nuts.

  • 2 C. quick cooking oats
  • 1 C. crispy rice cereal
  • 1/4 C. butter
  • 1/4 C. honey
  • 1/3 C. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ C. raw almonds

Combine oats cereal, and almonds; set aside. In a saucepan, melt butter with honey and sugar. Cook until bubbly. Reduce to a simmer and cook and additional 20 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over oats and cereal. Mix until everything is moistened. Pour onto a greased baking sheet and press to a thickness on ¾”. Cut into bars.
