These cupcakes not only come together to look amazingly festive, but it’s also made with incredibly moist chocolate cake that you would definitely want to use for many different occasions.

  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 3 cups of buttermilk
  • 1 cup of cocoa powder
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 3 cups of sugar
  • ¾ cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 tub of vanilla frosting
  • food coloring (blue and red)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, combine eggs, buttermilk, cocoa powder, flour, sugar, vegetable oil, baking powder and vanilla extract. Stir until completely smooth.
Line cupcake pans with cupcake liners and give them a light spray with cooking spray to further prevent sticking. Pour the batter into each cup. Bake for 20 minutes; let cool completely before you begin icing.
Transfer two cups of vanilla icing into two bowls and mix one bowl with blue food coloring and the other with red food coloring.
Assemble the cupcakes into desired flag shape and ice them red, white, or blue accordingly.
