It’s simple to pick up frozen tots from the grocery store, but when the homemade alternative is this easy, you never will again! Served with breakfast, burgers, or just plain ketchup, you’ll find yourself whipping up these taters all the time.

  • 1 lb. russet potatoes
  • 1/2 T. plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 C. vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Peel the potatoes and place in a pan of cold water. Cover them by one inch. Heat to a boil and continue cooking for 6 minutes. Drain. Use a cheese grater to shred the potatoes. Squeeze and drain all excess water. In a large bowl mix potatoes, flour, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Using your hands form the mixture into individual tots. Heat up a skillet with the vegetable oil and cook few tots at a time until they are golden brown and crispy.
