Combine all meatball ingredients and form into cocktail-sized balls. Place in a large shallow roasting pan. For sauce, combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer 10 minutes. Pour over meatballs and bake at 350 for 1 hour. You could also serve the sauce on the side instead. Keep warm in a covered ovenproof serving dish until serving. Serve with fancy toothpicks. These can be prepared a day or two ahead of your party and reheated/served in a crock pot.

  • Have made these before and they're delicious. However, this recipe should not be grouped with crockpot recipes since the slow cooker is only used to serve and not cook these foods. Practically ANYTHING can be reheated and/or served in a crockpot--don't need a recipe for that!

  • These meatballs are awesome. I made them for happy hour recently, and they were a hit. I would recommend baking the meatballs first, without the sauce, drain the grease, then add the sauce. Also, I used two eggs, not one.

  • Cat1959, I would double or triple this recipe if you want all 20 guests to have a few meatballs each. Thanks!

  • Does this make enough for a party of 20 guests?

  • I have this recipe except it calls for a bottle of chili sauce instead of ketchup. It is probably THE BEST meatballs ever. My husband likes me to make extra so he can have leftovers

  • I made these for New Years Eve, and my son loved them. However, I did not use the sauerkraut in them, and they were still Great!! rtcdunn
