Delightful Sweet and Sour Meatballs Recipe

This is an easy sauce to throw together to make regular meatballs a sweet and sour treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 20 oz. can pineapple chunks
  • 1/3 C. water
  • 3 Tbs. vinegar
  • 1 Tbs. soy sauce
  • 1/2 C. brown sugar, packed
  • 3 Tbs. cornstarch
  • 30 batch meatballs, frozen or thawed
  • 1 large green pepper, cut into 1" pieces hot cooked rice

Directions

Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Set pineapple aside. Add water to juice if needed to measure 1 C.; pour into a large skillet. Add 1/3 C. water, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar and cornstarch; stir until smooth.

Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly. Add pineapple, meatballs and green pepper. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes or until heated through. Serve over rice.

  • Sauce was a little thick. Will add more water
    next time. Was a hit with my family. Used snow peas instead of bell pepper since my kids won't eat it.

  • I am assuming you are mixing the cornstarch with the pineapple juice or water. Otherwise you will get lumps.
