  • 2 Pounds of Peeled and Deveined Shrimp
  • 1 Cup of Buttermilk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon of Hot Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons of Ground Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons of Oregano
  • 2 Tablespoons of Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons of Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons of Onion Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons of Paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons of Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons of Pepper
  • 4 Teaspoons of Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Cup of Cornmeal
  • 1 Cup of Flour
  • 2 Cups of Vegetable Oil

In a large bowl, mix together ½ of all the spices -- the ground mustard, oregano, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes -- with the buttermilk, egg, and hot sauce. Toss the shrimp with this mixture until they’re all coated, and then pour it into a resealable plastic bag with the shrimp inside it to marinate for at least 30 minutes in your fridge. Then, combine the remaining half of those same spices with the cornmeal and flour in a separate bowl.

Next, heat up the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan until it reaches a temperature around 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take the shrimp out of the wet mixture and cover them with the spicy flour mixture before frying them in the oil for 2-3 minutes per side until they’re golden all over. Pat them dry with a paper towel and serve warm!
