  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Half of a medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tbsp of tomato paste
  • 1 ¾ pound of fresh tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and diced
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • ½ a teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 2 dry bay leaves
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of basil seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons of red wine
  • 1/3 cup of all-purpose flour

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Next, add onions and garlic and cook 4-5 minutes until they are soft and golden. Make sure not to burn the ingredients.
Then, add tomato paste, flour, wine, tomatoes, sugar, oregano, bay leaves, salt, and pepper, and stir everything well until all the flour is mixed in.
Cover the sauce and bring it to a low simmer for 25-30 minutes.
Finally, remove from the sauce from the heat, add basil and stir well and remove the bay leaves.
